In February, we hosted an intimate Lunar New Year soiree in New York. Not a launch, this was simply a gathering of friends to welcome the year of the horse.
We invited friends of the brand, collaborators, creators, and women we admire into a space designed for conversation.
The evening was held at Kalei, a Chinatown gallery known for its vintage designer furniture and contemporary art. We were drawn immediately to the warmth of its deep red walls, a cozy reprieve after a long cold winter.
Signature cocktails were served throughout the night: the Solara Rouge, Lily on the Rocks, Du Paloma, and classic champagne. Alongside, we served red bean pastries and sesame balls from a local Chinese bakery.
Later in the evening, the cake was cut by Ms. Lin Du herself.
Florals were centered around a dramatic lily arrangement, nodding to Lin’s mother’s garden.
Each guest received a limited edition Year of the Horse tote, embroidered on site with custom stitching. Inside, a hong bao - a Lunar New Year tradition - and our own take on Year of the Horse bingo.
An I Ching (易经) reader offered one-on-one sessions throughout the evening. In Chinese culture, the start of the new year is a time for reflection and intention. We wanted to offer guests a quiet pause, and a thoughtful way to step into the year.
The room was filled with laughter, warmth, and the chicest outfits.
Cheers to the Year of the Horse. Wishing you warmth and momentum in the year ahead.
Love,
The Du & Berry Team
